This time of self-quarantine and social distancing has a hard-to-deny side effect: Frankly, it’s just a flat out bummer sometimes.
So many people out there are facing job layoffs and difficulty qualifying for unemployment. Foodbank lines are miles long as people try desperately to put food on the table for their families. Horrific accounts from those who have lived through the worst of COVID-19 play on our worst fears. The news… the incessant, invasive news coming at us from all angles can be way too much. How do we begin to discern what matters most, let alone what is even true?
On top of all of this, we’re stuck at home. Outside is no place for anyone right now, so inside we stay. And further inward we tend to go. For some, this rabbit hole leads to depression.
While happy thoughts, of course, can’t just magically make it all better, our thoughts do become things. What we dwell on receives the attention it needs to grow, so focus on the empowering and uplifting stuff. Dwell on thoughts that bring a smile to your face, and invite hope into your heart.
